Update on the Status of the Bald Eagle.

On Thursday, June 28 2007 The Department of the Interior officially removed the Bald Eagle from the Endangered Species List.

A total of 9,789 breeding pairs of bald eagles were estimated in the lower 48 states in 2006. This is a huge number compared to the all time low of just 417 pairs in 1963. This conservation success shows how important and effective the Endangered Species Act is.
